5TH GRADE: ECOSYSTEMS

Hello ecofriends!

In 5th grade we are studying ecosystems! 

Here you have some information about them!

Ecosystem is a combination of two words, Ecological & System.

It is related to ecology which means the study of the interaction between living and non-living things in a specific area.

There can be several types of ecosystems e.g. fresh water ecosystem like in river, or pond ecosystem,desert ecosystem, ecosystem in cold regions like Tundra ecosystem or Antarctica ecosystem.

And...What is a BIOME?

A biome is a large area with similar microorganisms.

Each of these large communities contain species that are adapted to its varying conditions of water, heat, and soil. 

There is a slight difference between the two 

words ecosystem and biome.

  

An ecosystem is much smaller than a biome.  

Conversely, a biome can be thought of many similar ecosystems throughout the world 

grouped together.  

An ecosystem can be as large as the Sahara Desert, or as small as a puddle.

BRAND NEWS:

A 4TH GRADE STUDENT AND HER LITTLE SISTER FROM 2ND GRADE HAVE BROUGHT TO SCHOOL SOME OBJECT THAT THEIR DADDY USES AT WORK, AS HE IS A SCIENTIST AND HE WORKS IN A LABORATORY.

MOREOVER, INSIDE THE OBJECTS THERE WERE SOME LIQUIDS (HOMEMADE WHITE WINE, VINAGER...) AND YEAST!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO ALEX AND HER SISTER FOR BRINGING ALL THESE MATERIAL TO SHARE WITH ALL THE CLASSSMATES!

Yesterday it was a exciting day becouse we went on holidays... but it was also a sad day too!

The 2nd term training students have finished their period of training!

Moreover, Silvia, an Infant Education teacher has finished her period of work at school.

We are really going to miss you guys!

5TH GRADE: GALICIAN FISH AND SEAFOOD

HELLO!

In 5th grade we are doing a project about our typical seafood and fish. 

We are working on it with our teachers Manoli, Pilar and Patricia. 

Thanks to Maya, our English Assistant, for the support in Science lessons. Due to her help, we can make the most of this special lesson and learn about it in ENGLISH!

We studied about a lot of animals!

To finish... let me show you the starfish we had got at the classroom during one week.

They are alive, resting on sea water. 

We are going to send them back to the sea on Easter holidays!
