THE SKIN OF A SNAKE IN 2ND A!

Hi little reptiles!

We had got a surprise yesterday at school.

Roque brought the whole layer of skin of ....A SNAKE!

He wanted to share with us the discovering of this skin.

He found it with daddy next to his house.

Children could appreciatte the scales and some of them, dare to touch it for a moment. Obviously, we wash our hands after doing it.

Here you are the pictures and a some information about this exciting fact about snakes.

And..a video showing how this shedding goes!

Enjoy it!

Why Snakes Shed Their Skin

Basically, a snake will shed its skin to allow for continued growth. The skin of a snake is different from the skin of a mammal (including us) in that it does not grow as the animal grows. When we get bigger with age, our skin grows right along with us.

But snake skin has a limited capacity for growth and enlargement. Thus, when a snake outgrows the skin it's in, it simply sheds the outer layer and starts fresh.

Do Snakes Ever Stop Shedding Their Skin?

A snake will shed its skin as long as it's growing, and snakes grow all through their lives. Thus, a snake will never stop shedding until death. With that being said, the frequency of snake shedding will certainly change during the snake's life. Younger snakes grow at a faster rate than mature snakes (as is the case with most other species).

So a young, fast-growing snake will shed more frequently than an adult snake of the same species.

Dear "mini" citizens:

We are studying DEMOCRACIES in 4th grade;  learning a lot about  the GOVERNMENT,  THE PARLIAMENT,   THE CONGRESS,  DEPUTIES,  SENATORS,  RIGHTS and RESPONSABILITIES...

At first it was a bit confunsing for us..but now we understand quite well how our system works!

To prove how elections are in a Democracy, we call to elections in 4th grade A, to choose a PRESIDENT!

Here you are the  political representatives showing up their candidacies!

ANd now..let's explain a bit their proposals!

1.LAURA run in the race with some proposals, as putting a water dispenser machine at the  back of the classroom to have some water whenever we are thirsty!
It would be for free!

2. Andrea declared her candidacy for elections with some interestings ideas, as  putting a huge slide by the window to go to the playground in a funnier and faster way!
PRETTY AMAZING!

3. Maria focused her program to the environment. FANTASTIC!
Moreover, she promised daily surprises for everyone!
Could she manage to do it?... We hope so!

4. Antía stand for President with a FREE-LESSONS FRIDAY!  HURRAY!
Not sure if the Educative laws will allow it...but...it sounds cool!

5. I wold like to mention the candidacy of LEONOR; who give away some electoral propaganda to all mini-citizens! AMAZING!

She thinks of a  new classroom distribution..with a chill out area to read on the puffs and so on; as she said " like USA Schools!"

6. Pablo for President! He ask for a library full of books and tales to enjoy when students finish their tasks at the classroom! WONDERFUL!

7. PGL (PARTIDO GALEGO LUCAS) did a excellent job with the design of the wallchart. He offers FANS to all students to fight the heat in the classroom after the playground time. LOVELY!

8. Joao,the one!
We don´t have any picture of this candidate...We will upload some pictures soon.
Sorry for the inconvinience!

9. And finally, Ayohub, the charming candidate.
He did a great presentation for the audience. He showed a really profesional and responsible attitude!

We apologize for the lack of photos. On the next days we will upload some picts!
......................................................

Thanks to all the candidates, who explained to all the audience their  proposals.

Undoubtedly, the high temperatures  into the class at midday are a real problem for pupils and candidates talked about it a lot!

I hope we can find a solution!

Students made use of  one of the RESPONSIBILITIES like citizens:

THE RESPONSIBILITY TO VOTE

by the way:

Did you know that Voting is both a right and a responsability?

Here they are some ballots of the process.

Then, on a 2nd stage, they placed their ballots in the elective box.

......................................................

THE DIE IS CAST! (ALEA JACTA EST)

Now it´s time to count the votes!

* As anecdote, a ramdon act happened... A little pig created by Eva wanted to participate and deposit its vote on the box.
We are sorry for the  pig, but it wasn't on the CENSUS and therefore It couldn´t prove it by showing the Identification card!

Naughty pig... :)

......................................................

Irea was in charge of writing the votes on the blackboard.

And now...

The official results:

Invalid votes: 1
Blank votes: 0
......................................................

And the winner is...

IREA PARTY!!!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEW PRESIDENT!

AND TO THE VICE PRESIDENT AYOHUB, WHO GOT A SECOND POSITION!

We hope they can acomplissh their goals!

Thanks for your attention...
and see you later, alligator!

THE READING CLUB IN 3rd A

Good morning readers!

We would like to show you THE READING CLUB of  3rd grade A.

Once a week, they visit the library and sit on the confortable puffs or chairs, doing a big circle.

It´s a free-reading club, so kids bring books from home.

Eache week, there are five or six pupils that show and explain  about a book that they really like to the rest of their mates.

They started with this activity on last May and the results are really good, as children are absolutely engaged on it !

They love to receive some reading suggestions from their classmates.

Today five kids brought some books.

Here you are some pictures of the books and...acordding to the owners, they are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

GOOD READING!!!!!
